This Athearn 40' boxcar resembles a fleet of multi-purpose boxcars used by the Illinois Central Railroad to move regional freight between the 1960s and late 1980s. It comes with Kadee couplers. The model, lettered for the "Main Line of Mid-America," represents a heavy-weathered, 40-foot standard boxcar. The actual Illinois Central was an iconic, north-south Class I railroad known for operating from the Great Lakes down to the Gulf of Mexico before eventually being absorbed into the Canadian National Railway. NOTE: No other structure, rolling stock, or other item seem in display photos are included outside of the product described.
