This hard-to-find HO scale kit by Athearn will be a great addition to your 1950s to 1960s era layout. ATSF introduced hydraulic cushioned underframes on its Bx-66 class boxcars in 1958. The underframes had a 10-inch sliding center sill and were marked with "DF with Shock Control" (Damage Free). By 1961, Santa Fe expanded the sliding travel stroke to 18 inches, marketing the innovation as "Super Shock Control." Coupler drawbars were extended to accommodate this movement, and these cars were painted in bright "Indian" (or "Boxcar") red. The kit is new in the box and easy to assemble. NOTE: No structures, rolling stock or other items are shown in photos are included besides the product listed.
