Description

[Used] PAUL REED SMITH / 2005 20th Anniversary McCarty Hollowbody Spruce Top with Piezo Platinum Metallic

We have just received a highly practical "Hollowbody Spruce" model, featuring a piezo pickup that captures the instrument's natural acoustic resonance!

This 2005 model—released to commemorate PRS's 20th anniversary—features a fully hollow body construction combining a solid spruce top with a luxurious carved mahogany back (similar to the standard Hollowbody model). It is remarkably lightweight, weighing in at approximately 2.2 kg. The back of the body is arched, with a thickness of 1 3/4" at the rim and 3" at the bridge.
The mahogany neck features a "Wide Fat" profile for a rich, full tone, along with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard and the signature Bird inlays.

It is equipped with a set of McCarty Archtop pickups; when combined with the optional piezo pickup, this guitar offers a wide range of tonal possibilities that take full advantage of the body's acoustic resonance.
Controls include Volume and Tone knobs and a selector switch for the magnetic pickups, a separate Volume control for the piezo, and a selector to choose between magnetic, piezo, or a blend of both.
Hardware includes a wraparound bridge with a built-in piezo pickup and PRS locking tuners.
Since arriving at our shop, the piezo-equipped bridge, piezo circuit board, and jack plate have been replaced with brand-new, current-spec parts via a factory repair.

There is a chip in the finish (approx. 3 cm) caused by an impact on the upper-left area of the body top. While other minor finish chips, dings, scuffs, and play-wear are present, the instrument remains in good condition considering its age.
We have also performed a fret leveling, cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, intonation (octave) adjustment, and action adjustment.

Finished in "Platinum Metallic"—a solid color that is rare for PRS, a brand now better known for its stunning figured wood tops—this guitar is well worth your consideration. Product Rank: B+ (Shows some signs of wear/scratches but functions perfectly for normal use)
