No.3 Cartridge Kodak Model E, early 1900s, good working condition

The No.3 Cartridge Kodak (1900-07) was the smallest of a series of three Cartridge Kodaks produced over the period 1897-1907.  The No.3 produced twelve 4¼ x 3¼ inch images on No.119 Rollfilm which was specifically introduced for this camera (119 film production ended in 1940) although a glass plate adapter was an optional extra.

This listed camera, serial number 6828, is supplied with a Bausch & Lomb Rapid Rectilinear lens, a Kodak Automatic Shutter (B,I,T) and variable aperture f4-f128.  It has rack and pinion focusing, two brilliant finders and a rising front.

The shutter and aperture are in good working order, the lens optics are clean and clear, and the bellows look to be light-tight.  There is some wear to the leatherette in places, in particular on the leading edge of the baseboard.

The No.3 is by far the least common of the Cartridge Kodaks....
