"Ellery Kent Allin served in both World Wars. Born on 23 Feb 1900 he was the son of Dr. Frederick A. and Carrie M. (Tewksbury) Allin of West Stewartstown, New Hampshire but the family later relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey. Ellery served in the first World War as a Private in the 115th Field Hospital of the 104th Sanitary Train, 29th Division in France. Returning to Elizabeth in 1919, he became a policeman. Ellery married in 1920 and the couple had a daughter in 1924. In June 1942 he returned to military service this time with the U.S. Navy serving as a SoundMan 2nd Class at various naval bases in the United States. After the war he returned to the Elizabeth, New Jersey police force and retired as a detective in 1954. Ellery died in 1982, another 29th Division veteran with a life of public service."
