Fabulous Antique Gold Inlaid Silver Needle Case

French * Circa 1860

This piece is a treasure that I'm parting with from my collection. It's French silver that is inlaid with flowers made of red, yellow and white gold on both sides. The gold is solid, not just gilded. Extensive hand engraving and chasing has been added to the flowers and the background as well. It has the French boar's head hallmarks used on Parisian 800/1000 pure silver.

It fits together well and is quite heavy and solid (16.8 grams). It measures 2 5/8" long. The condition is excellent with no dents, dings or loss of the inlay.
