Antique Figural Silver Fish Knitting Needle Guards

Germany/ Austria * Circa 1880s

These handsome fishes are silver plated knitting needle guards and are from my collection of fish shaped sewing tools. I think they would have been made in Germany. They are connected by the original soldered-link silver chain. There is a hook at one end of the chain so the length could be adjusted. They were used to put on the ends of double pointed knitting needles so the knitting wouldn't slide off.

The condition is excellent with no dents or loss of silver. Each fishy guard measures 2 1/8" long and the chain is 9" long.

I stand behind everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as presented.
