History:
Created in France around 1913, Nénette & Rintintin became two of the country's most beloved porte-bonheur (good luck charms). Originally fashioned as tiny yarn dolls, they were widely carried by French civilians and soldiers throughout World War I and later again during World War II as symbols of hope, protection, and safe return.
According to French tradition, the two companions were believed to bring good fortune only while they remained together. This enduring belief makes surviving intact pairs especially desirable to collectors today.

Condition: Very good antique condition.
