The Royal Air Force (RAF) operates its fleet of nine Boeing P-8A Poseidon MRA1 maritime patrol aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. These aircraft are flown and maintained by two frontline squadrons: - No. 120 Squadron - No. 201 Squadron

Both squadrons are equipped to perform anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and search and rescue missions. They routinely operate in the strategically critical North Atlantic and Arctic regions to secure UK waters and protect the nation's nuclear deterrent.The P-8 Poseidon MRA1 serves as the long-awaited replacement for the retired Nimrod fleet. The aircraft is a heavily modified Boeing 737-800 airframe equipped with an APY-10 radar, advanced acoustic sensor systems (sonobuoys), and weapon systems including Mk 54 torpedoes.
