Decent condition transmission shifter tower and the interior shifter box with the cables removed from a 2003 to 2005 Volkswagen Jetta MK4 with an 02J 5 speed transmission.  

- The shifter box with the cables in in good shape, internals work well and everything is tight. 

- The shifter knob and boot are very used and included for free. 

- The cables can have some lining cracks in the outer plastic where they connect to the box or the front bracket, but it's normal and will not affect how they work.  

- There is some rust on the front bracket, on the cable ends, on all metal parts on the tower also. Some at the bottom of the box. We really can't get around that on our Northern cars. This does not affect how the parts work, but please check all the pictures and determine if all that fits your quality standards. The parts are 20+ years old and rust on them is inevitable.  

- The shifter box is made out of aluminum, and unfortunately aluminum is prone to oxidation. The 2 mounting "ears" on the bottom of the box are pitted from the elements, some might have cracks in them, so you have to be very careful when installing everything. They might break. 

- The shifter tower has been dismantled, inspected, re-greased on all the pivots and the bearing. The top shaft seal was replaced by a new one. The bearing was inspected and cleaned, if it was not in a close to new condition, it was replaced. 

- There is no loose in it when it is installed on the vehicle.

- The cable ends are the "slide on" version, they are OEM, and unfortunately the rubbed bushings have started to crack, they still do the job that they're supposed to do, but you might want to consider replacing them eventually. 

- The reverse switch is on the tower with the pigtail connector in case you need to re-wire yours. 

- The bottom of the main shaft has cut-outs on the side, but overall it is the same diameter as the fully round shaft on the 1999 and the 2000 model, so you don't need to replace the bottom cap on the transmission if you don't want to empty your oil. However, the bottom cap made for this shifter tower is included if you want to replace it. 

 

It will fit any 02J 5 speed transmission on Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, New Beetle (1998 for the Beetle also) years 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 and 2005. Either 2.0L, 1.8T or TDI.

 

All original hardware is included for a better installation, the bolts are still OK but they are rusted.
