3D printed wall clock, based on an ER32 Ø20mm collet, scaled at 480%, this gives a bore of 96mm! truly the biggest ER collet I have ever seen!
This is an exact scaled model (expect the extraction groove, where I added a chamfer to make printing easier...)
The "collet" is 190mm high and 160mm in diameter, note the hook scale in the photos is show size and not included!
Finely crafted from HYPER PLA filament and taking almost 24 hours to print in 2 parts, using almost 700 grams of filament (including support filament), this truly is a unique timepiece
The clock mechanism, a silent precision quartz movement, has been sourced from China (Temu) after several minutes of searching (and a further 2 weeks of waiting to arrive....). This is powered by a single AA battery (included), having been checked for accuracy before being carefully assembled in my workshop (shed) The clock hands have been carefully trimmed to size (as they were a bit too long), further adding to the handcrafted appearance of what will surely become an heirloom, cherished by future generations As the clock bit has been super glued to the collet, the clock is adjusted from the back, Being honest, if you have massive hands like me, it's a bit of a struggle to change the battery, but this is a price well worth paying to have such a unique timepiece
The clock numbers have been printed in contrasting black filament, giving this a seamless look
This would be the perfect addition to any workshop, office, shed, man cave etc. Fast becoming a conversation piece, as well as a classic time piece
To ensure safe wall mounting, I recommend using a "4.0" screw (No. 8 in "old money") to hang from a wall. I will include a couple of these. Note - the screw needs to have around 10mm showing, to allow the carefully designed hanging bit to hold securely
Please note, this clock is "open fronted", i.e., it does not have a clear cover on the the front, as most clocks do.
