ARTIST: Miriam Tewaguna Nampeyo (b. 1956) is the great granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano, and granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo. Her work recreates the ancient Sityatki style pottery in the tradition of her grandfather.

SYMBOLISM: The Hopi migration pattern you see on this vase is characterized by parallel lines and stylized bird wings encircling the pottery. These elements symbolize the continuous movement of the Hopi people throughout history and their journey through the four worlds, as featured prominently of Hopi mythology.
