This figure is a Black Bear or "Hon" katsina, exquisitely detailed from its fierce red eyes and teeth to its claws to its pitkuna dance kilt and shoes. It is made from traditional materials such as
cottonwood root, leather, and natural pigments, depicting the fine craftsmanship and culture of the Hopi tribe
MEANING AND SYMBOLS: Hon is a powerful leader and healer in Hopi culture, revered for strength, wisdom and courage.
MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 17 inches tall x 13 inches wide. Please refer to photos for precise dimensions.
CONDITION: Very good condition. Strong colors, rich fur. One broken tooth. One pinky finger is not as pointy as the others and may have been blunted during production or chipped and painted.
SHIPPING: We take great care in shipping all of our kachinas and will
ship your kachina in a large box, strapped in place with multiple layers
of protective packaging. We do not add any handling fee. The shipping
you see is determined by USPS and will depend on the weight, the box
size, and your distance from our western United States shop.
This particular kachina will require an oversized box to protect its appendages, though we have minimized the dimensions to make the shipping more affordable to buyers. International buyers may incur additional fees.
