STUNNING Vintage Black-on-black Avanyu Pottery Vase Santa Clara / San Ildefonso Pueblo, Signed Maria.
DESIGN: This gorgeous Native American pottery vessel features a traditional Tewa Avanyu or Awanyu, the water serpent and pueblo protector, flowing like water around the vase with horns arching back and an arrow representing the snake's tongue. The Avanyu figures prominently in the cultural and spiritual practices of the Tewa people of Northern New Mexico, a protective spirit and representation of the canyon waters of the region.
MEASUREMENT: The vase measures approximately 3.5 inches wide x 3 inches tall. Please refer to photos for exact dimensions.
CONDITION: Very Good Condition with no chips or cracks. Minimal surface wear. Please SEE ALL PHOTOS AND VIDEO.
