RARE "Eye Saver" Cobra Desk Lamp with Sheaffer's 14 Karat Gold Nib Triumph White Dot Fountain Pen.

CONDITION: The lamp is in good condition with a working lamp assembly and cord. It has a nice patina of age to the bronze finish. Flaws include a bright spot on the base, which may have been due to a partial polishing attempt or an item laying on the base preventing oxidation over the years in one spot. There are also a few scratches and smaller light and dark spots, primarily on the top and sides of the lamp cover. The Sheaffer Triumph pen is in good condition overall with some surface wear and slight loose connection.

Overall this is a STUNNING HISTORICAL WORK OF INDUSTRIAL ART.

THE STORY BEHIND THE LAMP: In the vein of the iconic Greta Grossman cobra lamps and Norman Bel Geddes streamline design, we are offering this classic Art Deco cobra lamp designed by Jean Otis Reinecke for Sheaffer and Faries in the late 40s to 1950s.

In the rare variation offered here, a Sheaffer white dot Triump fountain pen with 14k Gold nib is embedded in the base to make the "Sheaffer's Fountain Pen Desk Set, # 501 C92WD" as seen on the original label affixed to the bottom of this lamp. A clip on metal diffuser is used to deflect the light in these "eye saver" models of the Cobra lamp produced by Faries in two variations, including the one created and marketed by Scheaffer shown and offered here.
