Handmade.......traditional green felt "wedge" cap that was once part of the Cub Scout uniform.  Sometimes called "overseas" or "garrison" cap

The Red Feather often added to the cap by the scout to signify completed achievements, outdoor activities, or simply as a decorative element of the uniform.  Pins and patches are common for scouts to collect and display on their uniforms to show patriotism, rank advancement, and participation in various scouting activities.........scouts would customize their headware to commemorate their personal history and milestones within their pack.

I think this hat is from 1939.
