1985 500SL in the most desirable colour combination of classic metallic diamond blue with contrasting cream leather upholstery. This is a very rare version of the SL having been factory fitted with air conditioning. As well as the A/C is also fitted with the options of heated front seats, leather rear seats with seatbelts and an external temperature gauge. There is also a Pioneer FM/CD stereo. A restoration was carried out in 2017 and there is a photographic record and report from Investor Classics who undertook the restoration. The car has done only 1500 miles since the restoration. A comprehensive 35,000 mile has recently been carried out by SL specialists Colin Ferns Ltd of Richmond and the air conditioning has also recently had an extensive overhaul by Alpinair which included a new compressor, air dryer and a re- gas. The Mercedes Gullideckel alloy wheels have been fitted with a set of new Avon tyres.
The condition of the coachwork is fantastic with no rust spots or scratches and the blue mohair hood is recent and hardly used. The matching diamond blue hardtop and the cream headlining are also in immaculate condition.
The 5.0 litre V8 engine really gives the car some grunt but with an automatic 4 speed gearbox, power steering and power brakes it is an easy car to drive and comfortable at motorway speeds or in heavy traffic. The existing private plate KUI 1310 will stay with the car and as it is already 41 years old has a DVLA 'historic vehicle' status. this means that it is exempt from Road Tax, MOT, and ULEZ charges making it an ideal classic to drive around London.
