Hollyhock 'Arabian Nights'

Alcea rosea

Various Sizes

  • Dramatic dark blooms – produces towering spikes packed with large, silky, single to semi-double flowers in a shade of dark burgundy-red that is so deep it appears almost black, creating a stunning architectural focal point from mid to late summer
  • Classic cottage garden favourite – adds incredible height and vertical structure to the back of sunny borders, and is a robust, fully hardy perennial that acts as a fantastic magnet for bees and other pollinating insects
  • How to grow – plant in well-drained soil in full sun and provide shelter from strong winds. Water well during dry spells and remove rusted leaves to keep the flower spikes healthy
  • Deciduous perennial – RHS H6 hardy, tolerates temperatures to approx. -20°C; drops foliage in winter and produces fresh new growth each spring
  • Healthy plants – well‑rooted specimens supplied in your chosen format, ideal for potting on or planting into prepared ground when local conditions allow

Please note: our pictures illustrate a mature plant to inspire you with its full potential given time and the appropriate growing conditions. The plants you receive will be well-rooted to the specified size purchased and may look different depending on the time of year.

1) The plants are first removed from their plastic pot or cell tray. The roots are then submerged in water and wrapped in paper towel to ensure the plants have water on their journey.

2) After this, the plants are placed into biodegradable bags to retain the moisture and protect the outer packaging.

3) We then tightly roll the plants in a protective cardboard roll before placing them in their boxes for postage.
