This is a lovely antique brooch. Don't know the exact age, but I think it's probably Civil War era. It's not marked sterling since it's too old for that to be required. I am positive it's sterling or coin silver. This is a little over 1 1/4" across. The hinge is the barrel style; the clasp is a fat c. It works fine. There's a light dent in one of the points. I didn't polish it as it has a nice patina.
