Antique Victorian Double Inkwell Desk Stand — Spelter Elephant Group on Marble Base, c. 1880–1910

A striking Victorian-era desk accessory featuring a cast spelter mother and calf elephant group with bone tusks, mounted on a stepped black marble base flanked by two matching inkwells. A substantial and characterful piece that would have graced a well-appointed Victorian or Edwardian study or library.

The elephant figures are well-modeled with naturalistic detail — the mother lowering her trunk toward her calf, both with separately fitted bone tusks. Green verdigris patina in the recesses is consistent with age and spelter construction. The two flanking inkwells have domed hinged lids with laurel wreath relief decoration and retain their original white porcelain inserts — both present.
