On December 15, 1984 Delta Airlines inaugurated nonstop Boeing 727 service from Dallas / Fort Worth Regional Airport to Nassau.

The airline did not request philatelic authorization and no covers were dispatched on the eastbound inaugural.

Approximately 15 first flight covers were carried on the westbound inaugural flight, piloted by D.H. Kellum. The Delta Station Manager in Nassau handled these covers and most of them bear the following inscription: “FLEW 521/15 DEC. 1984. NASSAU-DALLAS/FORT WORTH.” It is believed that the Delta Station Manager applied this. Many of the covers received Dallas, TX 752 DEC 17 PM backstamps.

This cover was carried on the inaugural Delta Airlines flight from Nassau, Bahamas to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas (where it was backstamped).
