Bronze Effect Finish | Handmade & Hand Painted in Greece | Classical Mythology Sculpture
This striking sculpture is inspired by the timeless myth of Apollo and Daphne, one of the most dramatic love stories of ancient Greek mythology.
After being struck by one of Cupid’s golden arrows, Apollo, god of light, music, and prophecy, becomes overwhelmed with love for the beautiful nymph Daphne. However, Daphne has been struck by Cupid’s leaden arrow, causing her to reject all romantic affection.
As Apollo relentlessly pursues her, Daphne calls upon her father, the river god Peneus, to save her. In answer to her plea, she is transformed into a laurel tree just as Apollo reaches her. The laurel would thereafter become Apollo’s sacred symbol and eternal reminder of his lost love.
This sculpture is based on the celebrated masterpiece “Apollo and Daphne” created by the renowned Italian Baroque sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini between 1622 and 1625.
Bernini brilliantly captured the precise moment of Daphne’s transformation, freezing movement and emotion in marble with extraordinary realism. Apollo reaches toward the fleeing nymph while branches emerge from her hands and leaves begin to envelop her body.
Considered one of the greatest achievements of Baroque sculpture, the original work remains admired for its technical mastery and dramatic storytelling.
Crafted from premium Cast Marble, this sculpture consists of over 90% natural crushed Greek marble combined with a small quantity of resin to ensure strength and durability.
This process allows exceptionally fine details to be reproduced, faithfully capturing the elegance and movement of Bernini’s original composition.
The bronze-effect finish enhances the sculpture's classical appearance while highlighting its intricate forms and dramatic contrasts.
Each piece is individually handcrafted and finished in Greece by skilled artisans to ensure exceptional quality and artistic character.
The material is water-resistant, weather-resistant, highly durable, and easy to clean, making it suitable for long-term display.
Please note: This sculpture is handcrafted from cast marble and is not carved from a solid block of natural marble. Minor pits, surface variations, or small internal cracks are normal characteristics of the material and contribute to the uniqueness of each piece.
A captivating tribute to love, transformation, and one of the greatest masterpieces of Baroque sculpture. 🌿🏛️✨
