Imperial German WWI Miniature Pour Le Merite Blue Max Lapel Decoration. Measures 13/16” wide by 13/16” tall. The front shows a maltese cross with an eagle in each corner. It shows a King’s crown with an ‘F’ on the upper arm. It reads ‘Pour Le Merite’ on the other three arms. The reverse side is blank with enamel. There are two machine embroidered cloth woven cotton ribbons attached to a metal button, that is maker marked ‘GODET & SOHN Berlin’. Has a miniature black wound badge on the front with a pair of crossed swords in the background in the center. One piece die struck brass construction with double sided powder blue enamel. This was to have been worn on the uniform lapel.
This was Germany’s highest valor award for gallantry in combat action during World War I.
