Antique Vintage Chad Valley Mr Smiles Smiler Teddy Bear C.1920s
One of the earliest Chad Valley bears, with experimental smiling mouth stitching.
Mohair fur, shaven muzzle, clear and black glass eyes with remains of brown painted backs, black horizontally stitched nose and smiling mouth, fully jointed, original black cloth pads, wood wool filled, three black stitched claws to each paw, inoperative squeaker.
Height 38cm/ 15”.
Fair condition with some fur loss and discolouration overall, some paint loss to eye backs, old stitched repair to one paw pad and both paw pads have a few small holes/ tears, tiny pin prick hole to one foot pad otherwise foot pads intact, one ear appears partially restitched on, mouth/ nose/ claw stitching intact and in good condition.
Joints in working order, smoke free home.
A lovely example of this hard to find bear.
