Offered for sale is an authentic vintage Soviet oil painting depicting a young Red Army soldier in military uniform and traditional ushanka winter hat bearing the iconic red star of the Soviet Armed Forces.
Based on the uniform details, particularly the shoulder boards (reintroduced to the Red Army in 1943), as well as the painting’s construction and age characteristics, this artwork most likely dates from the final years of World War II or the immediate post-war period (circa 1943–1955).
The portrait is executed in oil on canvas and mounted on its original wooden stretcher. The soldier is portrayed in a dignified and patriotic manner typical of Soviet military art produced during and shortly after the Great Patriotic War. Such portraits were commonly displayed in military offices, veterans’ organizations, schools, factories, and public institutions throughout the Soviet Union.
