The Short Stories of HG Wells - 1927 Early Printing - Ernest Benn
Title: The Short Stories of H. G. Wells
Author: H. G. Wells
Publisher: Ernest Benn Limited, London (Bouverie House, Fleet Street)
Year: 1927 (Third Impression, October)
Format: Thick Hardcover (Green Cloth)
Description:
A monumental early collection of H.G. Wells's short fiction, published during the author's lifetime. This exhaustive volume includes his most famous "scientific romances" such as The Time Machine, The Empire of the Ants, and The Stolen Bacillus. This is a scarce third impression, printed only weeks after the first. This copy features an interesting 1928 gift inscription and the name of a former owner, Lt. Col. S. W. Harris of Park Lane, London, adding a touch of historical provenance.
Condition:
Good Antique Condition. The green cloth boards are structurally sound with the original gilt lettering still visible on the spine. The binding is firm despite the book's significant weight. Internally, the pages are clean and the text block is tight. There is typical age-toning to the endpapers and a 1928 inscription on the flyleaf. A very respectable, honest copy of a sci-fi landmark.
