Beautiful vintage Meissen miniature bird figurine, model 441, depicting a finch or chaffinch perched on a small floral base. This is a wonderfully detailed small-scale Meissen porcelain figure with absolutely stunning hand-painted decoration.

The bird has finely painted russet, gray, brown, black, white, and yellow feather detailing, with delicate brushwork throughout. The quality of the modeling and paintwork is exceptional — the kind of craftsmanship that makes Meissen so instantly recognizable.

The underside bears the blue crossed swords Meissen mark, along with the incised model number 441. Research indicates this miniature finch model is Meissen model no. 77093, old no. 441. The original design is associated with Johann Joachim Kändler and co-workers in 1743, while this particular example appears to be a vintage or antique 20th century production.

It measures approximately 2.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches long.

Condition note: unfortunately, there is a chip at the beak. The chipped area has been touch-up painted to help blend in and hide the white porcelain underneath. I believe it still displays beautifully, especially because the overall paintwork and form are so impressive. There are no other chips, cracks, or repairs noted. The glaze is bright and clean, and the hand-painted decoration remains vivid and beautiful.

A lovely collectible Meissen bird figurine for display, and a nice opportunity to own a genuine Meissen piece at a more approachable price due to the beak flaw.
