Antique French Carved Pencil Holder for Carpenter–Religious Motif

An antique French pencil holder, finely carved in relief, with a devotional figure of the Virgin Mary, flanked by floral decorations and religious symbols. 
The case is substantial and well detailed, clearly intended as a functional yet personal object, likely worn or carried by a craftsman.
The sliding mechanism functions properly, revealing a traditional wooden craftsman's pencil. 
The silver surface shows signs of wear consistent with age and use, adding to its authenticity and character.

It measures about 8.4cm x 1cm x 0.6cm.
