Antique Mahogany Double Bed Frame - Carved Victorian Large King Queen Size Wood

An antique bed frame with a highly decorative carved headboard, tall turned posts, carved finials, shaped footboard and bold claw feet. A striking period bed frame, ideal for a traditional bedroom, guest room or restoration project.

Constructed from solid mahogany or similar hardwood, with carved detail, panelled head and foot boards, side rails and metal fittings. The bed has a late Victorian / Edwardian revival look and is likely early 20th century, possibly later. No slats or centre rail are included, so these will need to be sourced or made before use.

This is not a standard modern UK bed size. The frame is made to take a mattress approximately 1640mm x 2100mm, which sits closest to an Olympic Queen size but with a slightly longer length, so the buyer will need to check mattress sizing carefully before purchase.

Condition
In well used antique condition with age, wear, repairs and losses throughout.

There are surface scratches, scuffs, knocks, dents, finish wear, fading and colour variation across the frame. Some areas show heavier wear, chips, old marks and losses, particularly around the rails, feet, brackets, corners and lower sections.

The bed is missing its slats and has no centre rail. There is damage to some of the corner brackets and the bed will require additional fixings and repair before use. Some trim is missing in places (bottom of the headboard posts). One of the carved finials has been previously repaired.

The metal fittings show age, tarnish, wear and old screw holes. There are signs of previous repair and earlier work around some joints, brackets and fixing points. Best suited for restoration before regular use.

Would benefit from a good clean and polish, or ideal for refinishing / repainting.
