*** This painting was purchased at an auction where paintings from the estate of the late painter Yitzhak Saar were sold, which came directly from the artist's son.
This is a relatively early work.
*** Yitzhak Saar was born on December 15, 1931. He immigrated to Israel in 1948 and settled in Givat Shmuel. He enlisted in the Palmach and fought and was wounded in the War of Independence of the State of Israel. When he grew up, he studied art at the Grand Chaumier Academy in Paris, France, and then studied art and techniques for 6 years with Zvi Meyerowitz.
Saar's painting style was greatly influenced by the figurative movement and he lived alternately in Israel and France.
Saar designed and built a monument in memory of the Jews who fell in the battles of World War II. The monument was erected in 2005 and is located at the entrance to the city of Givat Shmuel.
