With no advance notice from the Post Office Department, Air Mail Route 120 was extended from Atlanta to New Orleans on April 26-27, 1965. Due to weekend schedules in effect at the time, the inaugural flight from Atlanta to New Orleans was not made until April 27.

No official cachets were provided.

Very few covers were carried due to the absence of advance notice.

This cover was one of only 15 pieces of mail carried on the inaugural Airlift International flight from the Atlanta, Georgia Airport Mail Facility to New Orleans, Louisiana (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) Flights Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 120W15f.

Airlift International filed for bankruptcy in June 1981. The carrier was reorganized and resumed operations as a worldwide charter service operator.
