Features RETTER Mold Error – Rare Variant of Baton Rouge Gay-Ola Bottle
Rare antique Gay-Ola soda bottle in aqua glass, embossed with “TRADE MARK GAY-OLA IT’S RETTER” on the front and “GAY-OLA BOTTLING CO. BATON ROUGE LA” on the reverse. This is a known mold variation where the word “BETTER” was mistakenly embossed as “RETTER” — a highly sought-after error by soda collectors.
Dated to the 1910s–1920s, this early crown-top bottle was part of the Cola Wars era when regional soda bottlers like Gay-Ola competed with national giants like Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The Baton Rouge bottling variant is already hard to find — and with the “RETTER” embossing error, this bottle becomes an exceptional conversation piece for any antique advertising or soda bottle collection.
Embossing is crisp and clear. Glass is aqua with beautiful aging and bubbles. The base is marked with the number 8.
