Vintage 1941 Navajo cloth doll, 12.5 inches tall, handmade and tagged “Navajo - Made by Thelma H. Wingate, N.M., July 1941.”

This wonderful folk art piece features a painted face, black hair, velvet-like rust top with silver-tone concha belt, cream pants, and moccasin-style shoes. Excellent condition for its age with nice detailing and patina.

Acquired by the original owner during visits to relatives teaching on Native reservations in the Southwest (including ties to Pine Ridge Sioux pottery in the same collection). A rare dated example with maker’s tag from New Mexico.

Great addition to a Native American folk art, tourist doll, or Southwest collection. Part of a small series including other tribal dolls.
