Rather than a finished body car, this model showcases the legendary filigree tubular space-frame that gave the Birdcage its name — the architectural masterpiece designed by Maserati chief engineer Giulio Alfieri. The original Tipo 60/61 was built strictly for customer racing between 1959 and 1961, and its intricate small-diameter tube chassis is widely considered the ultimate test of a model-maker's skill. CMC's all-metal, hand-assembled rendition is regarded as one of the finest examples of the craft ever produced.
