The fifth issue in the Prehistoric Life II series from the Congo is dedicated to the Megalodon. The motive of the premium bullion coin struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver features a Megalodon about to devour a whale. This comparative depiction strikingly illustrates the unimaginable scale at which this prehistoric predator once moved. Below the scene, the inscriptions "PREHISTORIC LIFE", "MEGALODON", "10.3 - 2.6 MIO YEARS BC", and the year of issue 2025 are displayed. The reverse shows the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, along with the weight, fineness, and denomination.

The Megalodon was a massive prehistoric shark that lived until about 2.6 million years ago. With an estimated length of up to 18 meters, it was one of the largest predatory fish in Earth's history. Its teeth could grow over 18 cm long, suggesting it likely hunted large marine mammals such as whales. According to current scientific knowledge, the Megalodon is now extinct, probably due to climate change and food shortages. The limited premium bullion coin is delivered in a protective capsule.
