A fine quality French 19th century walnut "puzzle" snuff box in the form of a carpenter's plane.

To open, hold it upside down, swivel the top cover out which exposes a lower, second cover which is then pulled back away from the handle to release it. Now upright it again before swivelling outwards to reveal the snuff compartment.

The top cover includes a wedge and a small area of decorative boxwood veneer. The underside has a inlaid horn filling to simulate the aperture for the cutter.

The whole is in excellent condition with a lovely patina.

Dimensions:  10 cms long  x  3 cms wide.

I am happy to combine postage on multiple purchases.

Please note that I do not end my listings early - many thanks.
