ROYAL DOULTON SAUCER

"SPRINGTIME"

ITEM:  Royal Doulton saucer or small dish. I'm pretty sure its a saucer for a coffee can. Made in England by Doulton in the Series Ware pattern called  "Springtime".

DESCRIPTION: The saucer is round in shape with a smooth rim. It has a lime green trim around the rim. The scene depicted on the saucer is a woman collecting fire wood. The scene is transfer printed. This series is described by Louise Irvine in her Royal Doulton Series Ware books, (Vol 2, Pages 104). This is Scene 2 (of 6), "Old lady with twigs under right arm and bucket".

Note that the photos provided form part of the description. Any shiny spots or white marks are from the camera shots, not blemishes on the item.

MATERIAL: Earthenware.

COLOURING: On a cream ground, and other colours of green, brown, blue, red.

MEASUREMENTS: The saucer is 2 cms deep and 10 cms in diameter.

CONDITION: Has no chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or staining. Two areas on the back where the glaze didn't take or "skipped". The green trim is intact. Nice saucer in good vintage condition in my opinion.

MARKINGS: The bottom of the saucer has the Royal Doulton lion and crown back stamp.

AGE:   Early 1930's is my guess. Over 90 years old.

GENERAL COMMENTS: Lovely collectable from a by-gone era. Someone may have a coffee can in this pattern that's missing a saucer. Could also be used as a small nut or sweets dish. Classy addition to your collection at a reasonable start price.

POSTAGE: Within Australia, regular post is $12.00. I will ship overseas, New Zealand $22.00, all other countries $35.00. Other postage options other than regular post are available.
