This 1967 Ford Mustang is a V8 automatic project with power steering, finished in blue and recently removed from long-term dry storage. It has spent the last 18 years in a UK barn, which helps explain the strong condition of the underside.
The previous owner bought the car to use as his wedding car. After the wedding, he placed it into dry barn storage for safekeeping. It then remained there for nearly two decades before we were able to obtain it and prepare it for sale.
Since acquiring the Mustang, we have carried out initial recommissioning work to the fuel and ignition systems. This has included fitting a new carburettor, installing a new fuel filter, replacing the spark plugs and cleaning the ignition points. As a result, the V8 engine now starts readily from cold and settles into a clean idle.
The automatic transmission and power steering are useful specifications on a first-generation Mustang. Once the remaining recommissioning work is completed, this combination should make the car easier to use in normal road conditions. It also suits buyers who want a classic American V8 that is not overly demanding to drive.
The interior is in very usable condition. The dash pad presents well, while the clocks and dashboard area are also in good order. Overall, the cabin appears honest, complete and suitable for continued use rather than immediate full replacement.
As expected after 18 years in storage, the exterior requires cosmetic attention. The paintwork would benefit from a respray, although the car could be improved gradually if preferred. It should be viewed as a project vehicle, not a fully restored or freshly prepared example.
The front brakes were seized when the car came out of storage. These have now been freed off, but inspection showed that the front brake shoes and front wheel cylinders need replacing. Therefore, the braking system should be properly serviced before the car returns to regular road use.
The underside is one of the main strengths of this Mustang. Because the car has been kept indoors and dry, the floor area appears very solid. We have not seen visible rust in the floor, which gives the car a good structural starting point for recommissioning.
This is not being presented as a completed restoration. However, it is a strong basis for a buyer who wants a 1967 Mustang project with a running V8 engine, automatic gearbox, power steering and a very encouraging underside.
In summary, this blue 1967 Mustang needs exterior paintwork and front brake components, but it does not appear to require a major structural rebuild. It offers a practical route into first-generation Mustang ownership for someone who wants to finish and improve the car over time.
The car comes fully registered with a UK V5C document.
