A richly illustrated two-volume study of the uniforms, weapons and organisation of the Greater Poland Army during the Greater Poland Uprising and the Polish-Soviet War, 1918–1920.

Uniforms and Weapons of the Greater Poland Army 1918–1920

Complete 2-Volume Set

This two-volume set presents a comprehensive reconstruction of the uniforms, weapons, equipment and organisation of the Greater Poland Army during the years 1918–1920, one of the most important formations in the reborn Polish Armed Forces.

Formed during and after the successful Greater Poland Uprising, the Greater Poland Army developed its own distinctive identity, reflected in its uniforms, insignia, equipment and military traditions. Unlike many other Polish formations of the period, its soldiers were largely equipped with German weapons and equipment inherited from the former Prussian Army, creating a unique appearance that distinguished them from troops in other regions of Poland.

The first volume explores the origins, course and consequences of the Greater Poland Uprising and examines the uniforms, weapons and equipment used by insurgents and soldiers. The second volume expands the study with additional military formations and services, including cavalry, transport units, communications troops, armoured train personnel, aviation, medical services and command staff.

Both books combine historical research with detailed full-colour reconstruction plates based on archival documents, photographs, period regulations, museum collections and contemporary accounts. Together they provide one of the most complete visual studies of the Greater Poland Army and its role in the struggle for Polish independence.
