Overview

Interesting vintage terracotta figural sculpture depicting a seated ruler, warrior, or deity in a pre-Columbian style. The figure is shown seated upon a throne-like platform with one foot resting on a carved head or mask. He wears an elaborate headdress, jewelry, and a long beard and mustache.

The figure's clenched fist contains a small hole that may have originally held something, or is just part of the design. The exact origin is unknown, but the sculpture displays strong Mesoamerican influences and would make an attractive addition to a collection of folk art, ethnographic décor, archaeological reproductions, or Mexican art.

Measures approximately 4.75 inches tall, 3 inches long, and 2 inches wide. Weighs approximately 0.5 pounds.

Condition

Displays well with significant age-related surface wear, losses to the red slip, scattered chips, and areas of abrasion throughout. The hole in the fist appears to be original to the design. No major structural cracks or repairs were noted. Please review all photos carefully for the best representation of condition and details.
