This decoy was carved by an unknown craftsman from Northern Minnesota. It is of historic significance not for its elegance but, for its utility. Obviously, it is crudely carved/chopped from a log and has tacks for eyes. It has been heavily hunted. Like most decoys in that area, it was painted black. This is one of the 20 birds in a northern Minnesota rig that I recently purchased. I wondered how it might have looked if it was used in Central Minnesota so I gave it a little paint job. This is a very nice example of the unique construction technique of the carver/hunter. Dimensions: 13 1/2” x 5 1/2” x 8”.
