~ Police Chief Raposo #1 ~

Publication: 1971, Fontana, 1st thus

Camilla should be home in London, trying to figure out what to do about her married boyfriend. Instead, she's in Madeira, helping her widowed, disabled half-sister adjust to her new life less than two months after the husband who did everything for her suddenly died. Roberta thinks an English caretaker would be just the thing--just for driving, keeping her company, things like that. But their first pick, Julie, gets into trouble with Roberta and is sent home. The second woman strikes Camilla and Roberta's ex-policeman friend and neighbor as somehow suspicious, but Roberta likes her--that's the big thing. Then a dead tourist is found in Roberta's living room.
