The SE Shires TBQ36GR from the Q series combines the characteristic warm, sonorous Shires sound with an outstanding price-performance ratio. The hand-hammered gold brass bell produces a rich, dark fundamental tone with exceptional projection - ideal for the low registers in the orchestra pit or in the symphonic wind orchestra.
The independent F/Gb valves allow remarkable flexibility in intonation and open up alternative fingering combinations for chromatic passages. The sound remains focused and stable without losing clarity in the valve area.
Despite its orchestral orientation, the TBQ36GR is also surprisingly versatile in a jazz ensemble. The large bore and the gold brass bell provide enough substance for powerful entrances, while the precise response also carries lyrical passages effortlessly.
