This is a beautiful early 19th‑century christening bodice, dating to 1820–1830, made of fine white poplin and richly decorated with whitework, needle lace, and Appenzell‑style embroidery. The workmanship is exceptional tiny padded stitches, delicate lace inserts, and carefully gathered panels, all preserved in remarkable condition for its age. The bodice retains its two original tiny back buttons, and the neckline can still be adjusted. A rare survivor of early infant clothing, perfect for collectors, textile study, or gentle restoration. Measurements: • Shoulders: 10 in, • Shoulder to hem: 5 in, • Shoulder width: 3 in • Sleeve length: 7 in • Neckline: approx. 8–9 in adjustable
A wonderful piece of early needle artistry — worthy of preservation and a lovely addition to any antique textile collection. Great piece for the collectors.
