VINTAGE CANADIAN INUIT FRAMED STENCIL PRINT - THE ARCHER by NIVIAKSIAK
This Vintage Framed Canadian Inuit Stencil Print - THE ARCHER - was originally created by Niviaksiak at the end of his career in fact its likely it was issued after his death as he died in 1959 yet I have seen the date 1960 connected with this image that actually bore his stamped signature. Niviaksiak was based out of Kinngait and connected with the Kinngait Studios there were he began his experimentations with sealskin stencil printing techniques.
The black frame is 13 3/8” long by 10” tall, there are no marks or signatures on the front but its previous owner had written the title of the piece and the artists name in what looks like crayon in the center of the paper on the back of the frame. There is a bid of discoloration of the paper from age, but otherwise this pieces is in very good vintage condition.
