Antique micro mosaic frames emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily produced in Venice and Florence. These frames were crafted using the ancient technique of assembling tiny glass tesserae to create intricate floral patterns, often featuring forget-me-nots and other delicate blooms. The millefiori (thousand flowers) technique showcased exceptional Italian craftsmanship and was popular among Grand Tour travelers as luxury souvenirs.

Micro mosaic frames are highly prized by collectors of Italian decorative arts and antique photography enthusiasts for their exquisite detail and historical

craftsmanship. These pieces appeal to those who appreciate fine handiwork, Victorian-era aesthetics, and the romantic tradition of preserving cherished portraits in ornate settings. The combination of functional purpose and artistic beauty makes them valuable both as display pieces and as examples of a nearly lost art form.
