THE GREAT NEW YORK CITY FIRE!!
Multiple ,lengthy detailed reports culminating with rare MAP of City & details of businesses Lost!! The suffering!!!

Background-The 1835 Great Fire of New York was one of three fires that rendered extensive damage in the 18th and 19th centuries. This Fire burnt $20 million of buildings(about 500 million today) and destroyed between 500 & 700 buildings.Many of the stores destroyed in the fire were new, with iron shutters and doors and copper roofs. When they burned, witnesses described appearance of immense iron furnaces in full blast. The heat at times melted the copper roofing and the liquid ran off in great drops.
