In 2012, Canada famously ended the production of its one-cent coin - an initiative known as the "Farewell to the Penny." The Royal Canadian Mint (RMC) struck its final penny on May 4, 2012. To mark the occasion, the RMC released special commemorative pieces, including a pure silver 1-cent coin, a fine gold 1-cent coin, and a collector’s 5-coin set featuring all of the major penny designs from Canadian history. Ten years later in 2022 the RCM issued a 10th Anniversary pure silver 1-cent coin featuring the "W" mint mark.
The 34mm S1c coin for auction is graded PF70 Ultra Cameo by NGC and made of pure silver (15.87 grams). It has a limited mintage of 30,000 coins.
