From ca.1750 this is a post medieval hammered brass sheet metal St. Benedict medal, rare to find, in immaculate condition. a beautiful medal. approx. 31mm or  just over 1 1/4 inch with bale. Comes from an old South German collection probably made close by.

These medals are used for prayer as a shield or a protection against evil... this one is very old. 1 inches long and is in very fine condition. all the medals and coins and other small items I am listing at he moment come from a priory recently closed here in south east Ireland
