The Death Artist (also released as A Bucket of Blood) is a 1995 comedy-horror television film directed by Michael McDonald, starring Anthony Michael Hall and Justine Bateman. It is a 1990s remake of Roger Corman's classic 1959 film A Bucket of Blood. The film originally aired on the Showtime network and subsequently hit the home video market on VHS via New Horizons Home Video.
Plot Overview: Anthony Michael Hall plays Walter Paisley, a socially awkward, unappreciated busboy working at a trendy hipster coffee house called the Jabberjaw.
Desperate to fit in with the pretentious artsy crowd and impress his coworker Carla (Justine Bateman), Walter accidentally kills his landlady's cat. To hide it, he covers the dead animal in plaster and passes it off as an avant-garde sculpture.
